New ERA Policies – support for research career development and Open Science
Purpose of the event
The workshop explores the transformation of research careers within the European Research Area (ERA), by connecting European policies and priorities with their implementation in Horizon Europe (WIDERA) and other relevant initiatives, as well as with the development of the skills required in the research ecosystem — with a focus, in this workshop, on Open Science.
It highlights the ERA Policy Agenda 2025–2027 and the Horizon Europe/WIDERA funding instruments that contribute to developing and supporting research careers, their mobility and interoperability across sectors and countries, as well as to institutional development geared towards a research ecosystem of excellence that is more open, equitable and inclusive. The workshop combines a session dedicated to current European policies and Horizon Europe WIDERA calls with a session focused on skills and professional development in the field of open science.
Event co-organised by
- The Horizon Europe WIDERA National Contact Point (NCP), together with the Open Science Coordinator of the Executive Agency for Higher Education, Research, Development and Innovation Funding (UEFISCDI)

with the support of the PRO INVENT 2026 organising committee.
Who should attend
The workshop is addressed to students (ISCED 6–8) – bachelor, master and doctoral level, to researchers at all career stages, from early-stage researchers to experienced researchers, as well as to all actors in the research and innovation ecosystem interested in the opportunities offered by WIDERA and, in particular, by Open Science.
